Master Viticulturist
Since March 13, 2023, the Winery Mayr has officially been recognized as a master craftsman operation.
The young winemaker Karl-Michael Mayr, after completing his previous training as a skilled worker and wine merchant, has now successfully completed a 3-year apprenticeship in viticulture and cellar management to become a master craftsman.
Thanks to the good cooperation between father and son, the business can benefit from both long-standing experience and most up-to-date knowledge, allowing it to grow and thrive.
As an in-house “master project”, the young winemaker has already produced his own wine and created his own brand, the “Grüner Veltliner MK”.
This wine stands out not only for its elegant and youthful design but also for its unique winemaking style compared to the rest of the range.
Sustainable Austria
With the new wine vintage 2023, our winery has been certified as a sustainable operation.
Ecology, economy and social responsibility are the central themes for the “Sustainable Austria” certification. Responsible use of resources and maintaining healthy vineyards are crucial aspects.
For example, we refrain from using insecticides, employ machinery more efficiently, reduce energy consumption, improve our carbon footprint, promote regional traditions, and ensure fair treatment of employees.
