The Winery Mayr
The former Winery of the Monastery of Tegernsee (D) was bought by the Family 7 generations ago, in 1771 and is one of the oldest privately owned wine business in the Wachau.
The Mayr family is justly proud of their 250 years of business’s tradition of producing great wines in harmony with nature.
The Wachau’s micro-climate is famous for producing tasty, fascinating and characterful wines! With just a glance, it is easy to see all the work that goes into sustaining and conserving the vineyards and ecology that make the Wachau’s landscape so wonderful and the wines so outstanding.
Rebuilding a stonewall, pruning or the harvesting, all the work must be done by hand as there is literally no place for machines.
Our philosophy is to keep as much of the old as we can, while adapting good new ideas and procedures, into the winery to suit it’s needs – this is our family’s motive and motivation that we are so proud of!
